I’ve mentioned before that one of the many great perks of The Girl Cave is the opportunity to meet some truly inspirational and accomplished women. I recently had the privilege of meeting one such woman, Reverend Peggy Price. She shared with me a project that she has wholeheartedly committed herself to that I think is important to share with the people in my life. It is called the Charter For Compassion, “a cooperative effort to restore not only compassionate thinking but, more importantly, compassionate action to the center of religious, moral and political life.” And as a result of Rev. Price’s tireless efforts, Huntington Beach has officially signed on to be a Compassionate City! In these times of what seems like nothing but violence, turmoil and political polarization on the news, it is a tremendous comfort to see that there are still so many kind, caring and compassionate people looking to make a positive impact on our world.
As you are busily running those last minute errands, cooking, and wrapping gifts today, my wish for you is that you take a moment to stop, breath, and truly appreciate the many, many blessings in your life. I will be making a point to do the same, and you are all on the top of my “blessings” list. Have a joyous Christmas everybody!
